Deltic Thoughts.
I placed my order back in 2019, paying my £30 deposit. I was told at the time that once the product arrived in stock, emails would be sent out requesting the balance be paid. As the news about delivery approached I contacted Accurascale to ask about the balance payment and then got told the shipping would be done in order of full payment, but no emails had been received and my order was now number 30000 something, which I was a little disappointed to hear after the long wait. Yeah ok it only took a week to process all the orders, pretty good really, so not too bad in the end!
On delivery, which was on time, well packed and undamaged, I checked my loco as I had seen on Youtube others had detail detached in transit, mine had one corner step adrift which I glued back in place. Everything else was perfect, no paint marks, glue mark or other detail adrift, truely beautiful and well worth the long wait. The model runs well and sounds amazing, those Napier engines really do sound awesome but I had to turn mine down to 40% of full volume, it was just so loud. I have had one or two occasions when the bogie chains have got caught between the bogie and body causing a derailment, but it's rare. Also the weight of the model has very occasionally caused one of my Peco code 75 large radius facing point blades to move as the loco goes over it again causing a derailment. I also remember the original order pages mentioned etched name plates factory fitted and buffer beam detail added, well I am kind of glad you didn't factory fit the detail as most people would only remove it to fit the couplings, I use both ends of the loco on my layout. I feel as if the bogie chains will eventually get left off by many as the models become due servicing over time, or people open them up to fit Accurafolk drivers. Would it not have been possible to have the body end of the handbrake linkage attached to the chassis and not the body?
You should be commended for staying true to your promise about the most detailed Deltic out there, not only that but in todays climate of price rises you kept to your word and didn't rise the price just because other manufacturers did. Thank you and very well done for that.
This was my first order with you, I feel it is a shame it is neccesary to pre order a model just to get one, I would have liked to see a Deltic first before placing an order, but that goes for all manufacturers now not just Accurascale, and the day of popping down to the local model shop with my money to buy the latest model is long gone.
A truely fantastic product which fills me with much confidence about receiving my next product from you a Class 37........can't wait.
Thank you and a big pat on the back Accurascale, from a very satified customer.
