Andrew Barclay 0-4-0ST 14" 47 in NCB blue

Ordered a model No.47 as I remember the actual loco residing in Thos Muir's scrapyard slowly sinking into the Fife mud. After ordering online, rather puzzled when an email arrived mentioning YuriExpress and a Hong Kong location - however within a week Royal Mail rang my bell to deliver the package in superb condition. On opening the package, I was very impressed with the way the model had been protected to minimise the risk of damage in transit. I then got granny's largest magnifying glass out and started a forensic-style inspection of the loco. Very pleased to report that I could find zero evidence of any manufacturing defects, cosmetic blemishes or general quality concerns. Very happy with the product box (including foam insert and the revised blister pack) and the level of protection that it evidently offers when being shipped from the other side of the world. This company (Accurascale) is setting incredibly high standards in the hobby. Note to readers - This model loco was bought directly online at list price using my own money and I'm seriously impressed. Will happily order further Accurascale products in the future.

Unfortunately, the 1st one to arrive had a squashed cab which was somewhat confusing due to the amount of packing there is for these tiny models. But an email to Accurascale managed to get it sent back and a fresh one was sent out which arrived perfectly and runs well.

The first loco was unfortunately significantly damaged so had to be returned under warranty a replacement was sorted but was to be shipped directly from China so took a 3-4 to arrive. The replacement was in better condition with no damage to the rear of the cab but two buffers were not installed correctly. DCC fitting the loco was a complete pain, there are parts that are not shown in the instructions that fouled the removal of the body. The DCC socket was not installed correctly and came loose which meant the body wouldn't go back on until it was fixed back in place. Once this was done I attempted to run the loco but the motor had shifted loose in the installation process and the body needed to be removed again. Whilst completing the installation for a second time one of the cylinders came loose as there was insufficient glue used to secure them. A shame as the loco looks fantastic but definitely improvements needed in the design and quality control. Knowing these issues I wouldn't have purchased the loco.

Arrived ok monday 16th.
Test run on tuesday . Ran ok, bit jerky for a while then running smoothly with good control both directions.
After about 10/15 minutes it stopped running. Could hear a "whirring" noise from motor. Suspect drive either stripped or adrift. What do I do now ?

My engine arrived today and it is superb - everything from presentation to running on the rails. The packaging was equally good.
This was a replacement for my original order but the customer service has been second to none. I have been kept informed of progress throughout the return process.

Very nice model, especially the cab detail. Unfortunately the first model had a detail part loose in the box and only managed to run for 5 minutes before the drive mechanism came loose. Replacement model sent was fine and runs without fault but not as good as the Dapol Hawthorn Leslie 0-4-0 that is heavier and runs much smoother. Overall though a nice model that looks good in NCB blue and has excellent cab detail.

Im loving it so far

On arrival, the loco was free rolling, as if it had no motor or gearing. I emailed Accurascale immediately and they got back to me within two hours to offer apologies and an easy to follow solution. As it transpired, the motor had simply shifted out of alignment. The loco now runs perfectly, and looks great with its light blue livery shining in the light.

Excellent model, with excellent customer service to match.

a lovely little engine, surprisingly weighty with plenty of die-cast metal and nicely detailed. Sadly this one arrived damaged with cab rear stoved in else would be 5 star - going through exchange process

The incredible attention to detail on this model is simply superb.
There is a charm about these industrial locos and Accurascale have paid tribute to these hard working locos in OO scale and this will add another level of detail to any modeller creating a typical industrial colliery scene.
