The first of the C Class, C201, arrived at North Wall, Dublin, on February 2, 1957, wearing the same all-over silver livery that had been so striking on the A Class locomotives that had been delivered over the previous two years. The Crossley-powered Metrovick debuted a month later with C202 on the 34-mile Farranfore-Valentia Harbour route, which was notably the most westerly railway line in Europe and was also recorded working on the Castlecomer branch. Sadly it also worked the last Up train on the Valentia Harbour branch in January 1960, after which it moved to the Midland section. It was rebuilt with a GM B-645E engine in June 1971 but was stored after being bombed at Meigh in August 1973.
