The programme of rolling stock production undertaken by Oliver Bulleid during his time as Chief Mechanical Engineer at Corás Iompair Éireann (CIÉ) in the 1950s contained a number of now-iconic vehicles, among them being the humble H Van. With a 10ft wheelbase and 12-ton capacity, these unassuming vans became CIÉ’s standard covered wagon and they found their way to every point of the Irish railway network during their time in service, present in long rakes or mixed trains in larger yards and in smaller groups or singly in sidings and goods sheds right across the island.

H and Grain vans

I purchased both a H van pack and a grain wagon pack. The detail as usual is superb, and they are faultless runners.

Accurascale never cease to amaze me with their products. Here, we have finely crafted CIE Box Vans from Accurascale's IRM group. As always, the products in this three pack are nicely recreated in 00 scale. The printing, fine details, and overall design work on them are exquisite. Some of these mixed together would make an interesting rake within a UK layout, never mind an Irish one to roll on.

H heaven

Fantastically detailed models with all the chassis details in place. Perfect paint work and looks just the part. The only thing I would improve is the roofs all have the same paint and wear pattern and it looks a bit daft if all of them are close together but a quick bit of weathering will fix this.
