Den 16 ton stora mineralvagnen, som i hög grad betraktas som "den saknade länken" i "Powering Britain"-serien, är ett viktigt tillskott till Accurascale-serien för att berätta historien om koltrafiken på järnvägarna under 1900-talet. Den arketypiska BR 16-tons mineralvagnen i helt stål utan tratt spreds över Storbritanniens järnvägsnät under 1950- och 1960-talen och det fanns förmodligen inte ett sidospår, godsbanor eller industriellt järnvägssystem i landet som inte inhyste åtminstone ett eller tre av dessa livsviktiga, men vardagliga järnvägsfordon.
  • Model Specification:
  • Die-cast metal chassis with plastic body. Weight of 37g (excluding coal load).
  • Scale length of 78mm over buffers, and 34.53mm wide.
  • Wheelbase of 36mm, allowing operation over a minimum radius of 371mm (1st radius set-track).
  • Separately fitted side doors, top doors and end doors.
  • Metal 3-hole wheels; chemically blackened 00 Gauge RP25-110 standard, set in blackened brass bearings and conforming to Accurascale standards of 14.4mm back-to-back, on 2mm axles over 26mm pinpoints.
  • Eroded metal, plastic and wire detail parts, including handrails, grab handles, side-door handles, lamp brackets, brake gear, draw gear, 3-link and Instanter couplings.
  • Turned metal sprung buffers.

Reminiscing my Railway career

I have now purchased 24 21 ton and 16 ton minerals as the detailing is brilliant. I worked with these vehicles in the Railway in the Leicestershire Coalfields in the 70s

Every Siding Must Have One

When I was a kid, the real wagons were everywhere, most were various shades of grey, many went rusty, the build total was in six figures, which probably peaked in the late 60s, when coal deliveries went into decline. These more common 1/108 models are very nicely done, I shall buy more for a longer rake, bit by bit. I hope some later releases can be in the earlier darker shades of BR grey. Very pleased.

Absolutely fantastic models - The detail is just outstanding - I particulary liked this set with a color variation which sold out quickly. Best mineral wagons I have ever seen. The look superb !

Well detailed. Various versions on sale concurrently so will have to wait for next run to build a long rake if you want all of exactly the same era.

These 16T mineral wagons are the best 00 gauge mineral wagons to be produced. All the right detail is present in the right places. Beautifully detailed under frames with full brake rigging. Superb.
