37421 Colas Rail

Lagrades av EWS på Motherwell i mars 2005 och såldes för konservering vid Pontypool & Blaenavon Railway 2009, nr 37421 var en av fyra Class 37s som köptes av Colas Rail 2013 för en återgång till huvudlinjen, tillsammans med nr. 37116, 37127 och 3727 debuted sistnämnda. deras nya ägare i mitten av 2014, skulle det dröja ytterligare ett år innan nr. 37421 skulle återinträda i trafik tillsammans med BR grönlivade tidigare Harry Needle Class 37/0 nr. 37057/D6757, precis i tid för att hjälpa till med det nyförvärvade avtalet för övervakning av Network Rail-infrastruktur.

Under de kommande fyra åren var Colas Class 37/4 en gedigen presterande på olika testformationer, tills den kallades till södra Wales i maj 2019 för att förse pendlingssvängarna på Cardiff-Rhymney-linjen tillsammans med inhyrda nr. 37175. Rhymney-arbetet avslutades i mars 2020 och det var tillbaka för att testa tågarbetet, blandat med NR-salongsuppdrag med nr. 975025 Caroline och den udda infrastrukturtjänsten.

Kosmetiskt bytte den mot slutet av samma år sina Colas "hard hat"-logotyper mot nya diamantklistermärken, även om den envist har behållit sitt unika arrangemang av enkellampsjärn på olika sidor av loket i varje ände. Trots det ökande antalet Colas HST-motorbilar på NR-tjänsterna, är nr 37421 fortfarande en vanlig ovanpå PLPR (Plain Line Pattern Recognition) och UTU (Ultrasonic Testing Unit) formationer och förväntas förbli en nyckelkomponent i operatörens flotta under flera år framöver.
