37429 National Eisteddfod Large Logo w/Welsh Dragon

Representerar den ursprungliga Cardiff Canton-batchen om sex klass 37/4-omvandlingar är nr. 37429, "renoverad" av Crewe Works från nr. 37300 (ursprungligen D6600) i mars 1986. Nr. 37426-37431 var ursprungligen planerad att ansluta sig till resten av den skotska underklassen. Men innan de var färdiga identifierade London Midland ett mer akut behov av denna batch, även om de tilldelades Canton i södra Wales på grund av denna depås omfattande kunskap om den engelska Electric Type 3s.

Introduktionen av Electric Train Heat (ETH) monterade lokomotiv till den begränsade vikten kambriska rutten från Wolverhampton till den walesiska kusten gjorde det möjligt för InterCity att komplettera sin trötta Mk.1-flotta på London Euston till Aberystwyth och Pwllheli-tjänsterna med luftkonditionerade Mk.2-bussar, även om Mk.1s – ofta sattes på ordinarie tåg i sommaren – öster om sommartågen. 1990-talet. Till skillnad från sina kusiner norr om gränsen var de walesiska '37/4s' främst passagerarmaskiner och de befann sig också tilldelade Liverpool Lime St/Manchester Piccadilly/North Wales-Cardiff och Cardiff-Bristol-Weymouth diagram. Utköpt i stor logotyp, fick den snart en liten röd walesisk drakelogotyp på förarhytten och förvärvade senare Sir Dyfed / County of Dyfeds namnskyltar från nr 37180 i april 1987.

De togs dock bort efter bara fyra månader och loket döptes om till Eisteddfod Genedlaethol – efter den berömda festivalen – i augusti. I januari 1991 släpptes den från Glasgow St Rollox Works i Railfreight Construction-färger, och behöll särskilt sina rödbakade namnskyltar som de andra tre '37/4s' för att få dessa speciella skvadrondekaler. Den behöll sitt namn på ommålningen av Regional Railways i maj 1993 och lagrades 2001. Den kasserades på EMR Kingsbury i februari 2008.
