O Gauge Hoppers Now in Stock!

We reached yet another milestone today as our first O Gauge model arrived in stock. We have produced the ubiquitous BR 24.5 Ton 'HOP 24' or 'HUO' hopper wagon in ready-to-run in 7mm scale, which follows on from our 4mm model of the same wagon from last year.

Built in 12 separate batches between 1954 and 1965, over 5,000 were built between BR at Shildon and a small batch were also produced by Pressed Steel.

These hoppers set to work across the BR network on coal, coke and limestone trains. This included both 'Merry go round' and also domestic coal flows.

The HUOs worked both in block trains and mixed with other wagons, such as the common 16th mineral wagon, and 21 ton hopper and open mineral wagons across the UK for over 30 years until their withdrawal from BR in the mid-1980s.

They lasted long enough to be the last unfitted wagons to be in regular use with BR, and could be seen with BR Blue, Large Logo and even Railfreight grey locomotives such as Class 20s, 37s, 47s and even Class 56s.

After their career with BR, many HUOs went on to serve another career with the NCB, working on their internal rail network.

We conducted an extensive survey of the last remaining HUO at the Tanfield Railway. This data has now been converted into an industry leading O gauge model, with over 100 separate components in each model, die cast chassis for weight, and compensation.

A total of eight different running numbers have been produced, with A, B, C and D in pre-TOPS livery and E, F, G and H with TOPS markings.

Prices for these stunners is £49.95 each, with attractive bundle deals also on offer. These are only on sale direct from Accurascale, both online and shows such as the forthcoming Model Rail Scotland You can place your order here for yours today.
