What a glorious little loco! It had to be the GER Ultramarine livered special edition, as I live in East Anglia, where the ghosts of the Great Eastern still stalk the railways.

I've seen the prototype on which it's based at Bressingham on several occasions, and to my amateur eye it's a very faithfully reproduction. The cab detail is outstanding, as is the livery application. Its hauling capability is just awesome, and it has a track presence that belies its diminutive size.

I was so impressed with mine that on delivery, I went straight to the Accurascale
website to buy the other special edition version in BR Blue, but it had sold out. He who hesitates is lost, I guess...

I had my doubts about this livery, but when I realised the loco had spent the majority of its BR life in South Wales, I just HAD to buy it. As a boy growing up in the Valleys, it seemed like there was a class 37 lurking around every curve in the track during the 1970s.

It's a breathtaking model. The livery just pops, and its performance is superb. Accurascale chose a real crowd pleaser when it selected the 37 for mass production, and I for one an extremely happy it did.

The detail & features are second to none. Bachmann's 37 is an excellent model, but this raises the bar, and for substantially less money (although its success has forced Bachmann to cut its price). It can haul pretty anything and everything I throw at it, and runs as smooth as silk.

A Triang class 30/31 was the very first loco I was given by my parents as part of a Freightmaster train set. My dad and I used it as the basis to build a substantial model railway.

Decades later I've come back to the hobby, and acquiring this state-of-the-art version of the class was a must for me, especially in this superb Golden Ocre livery. These were ubiquitous in the BR Eastern Region, where I now live, and I have photos of them working on the long closed Waveney Valley Line that passed through the town.

The model is fabulous. Accurately detailed both inside and out, with an excellent sound/lighting suite, even when using a non-ESU chip. The authentic A1A power set up is a plus point, IMO.

Buying such things is not just about how the look, or how they work - both of which are faultless on this model - but also about how they make you FEEL, and this brown beauty delivers on that score in spades.
