Class 66 - EWS Maroon - 66001 - DCC Sound Fitted

Another fantastic model from Accurascale that addresses all the niggles with the Hattons class 66 plus handles set track express points and slightly uneven trackwork better than the Accurascale class 37 and Deltic with no derailing. Well assembled with no loose parts and an unblemished livery application. Exquisitely smooth running right down to a crawl and an impressive sound project, though it would be useful to be able to also have the air valve ‘popper’ sound available when the engine is not running. Great presentation in the Accurascale Exclusive packaging.

My first ‘Shed’ and I am greatly impressed once again, with near perfect running straight out the box and another fantastic sound profile!

Sadly I have had to reject this one and it has had to be returned as, while it ran ok in one direction, in the other direction it exhibits a grinding noise after a few inches and then almost comes to a halt. However, I'm confident that Accurascale will sort a replacement. So, this particular loco only gets a 4 star, whereas the model in general is the best 66 around bar none and doubtless the replacement will be a definite 5 star.

Apart from the livery, Maroon does not seem to dark enough and the yellow should be more of a gold colour. Also finish could be a little more satin and not so matt. Otherwise a superb model, excellent running quality, overall detail and assembly perfect.

Well another stunning model form these guys well done. This is one super loco and the sound is good too. Will be getting a few more soon

I originally have 2 of the hattons 66s which these are based off and they were fantastic. Even from the box this model is 110% the presentation. Sound quality is superb and the finish is spot on. Runs like a dream. I can definitely see more being added in the next run

As per my review title - they’ve done it again, what an excellent model!

Although a Class 55 Deltic is my favourite Loco - the 66s especially in EWS livery are very close to my heart whilst living on the ECML!

From opening the box to hearing the sounds for the first time. This 66 blew my mind and beat all expectations. Runs really smoothly and the sounds are incredible! You can even hear the TPWS/AWS system test and the GSMR registration sounds when changing direction. Sublime

The EWS 66001 are running on an HO scale modelrailway in Norway. No one of the menbers have react to its scale in OO. It runs good with about 40 wagons, ordinary with 10 EWS wagons (with bogies). It is better than my old one from Hattons. Sorry that I have no picture of it, but I have a picture from the modelrailway. Place named Speyside.

Given accuracsales other products I knew this would be a good one. Indeed i was correct it's perfection in my opinion it has everything you could possibly need on a class 66 and the quality of the DCC sound is astonishing absolute beast of a model. Well worth the money and the wait !
