Detailed Description

Never before produced in ready-to-run form in any scale, accurascale is excited to reveal the latest addition to its eagerly-anticipated range of 4mm/OO gauge Mk.2 coaching stock, the late-style Mk.2c variant with their characteristic small 'air con'-style toilet windows. Famously designed to be retrofitted with air-conditioning equipment, a modification that never took place, 150 vehicles were built at Litchurch Lane, Derby, in 1969-70 to five designs (out of 250 Mk.2c in total), primarily for the London Midland Region: Tourist Second Open (TSO), Corridor First (FK), Open First (FO), Brake Corridor First (BFK) and Brake Open Second (BSO). In the 1980s four further types were introduced, SK and SO (declassified from first class), Corridor Composite (converted from FK for Scottish Region services) and a mini buffet with trolley space, known as TSO(T). All nine of these versions will feature in our production.

  • Accurate interiors with characteristic 'winged' headrests, separate metal interior handrails on the brake and corridor vehicles and fully-detailed guard's compartment
  • Correct height NEM standard coupling sockets with mini tension lock couplers and kinematic close-coupling
  • Easy conversion to Kadee-compatiable knuckle couplers
  • Full lighting package, including

Much Needed Buffet Car for the Harry Potter Train

I had long awaited a suitable catering vehicle for the Hornby Hogwarts Railway coaches which ran on the Mallaig line under the auspices of West Coast Railway. Accurascale's Mk2c TSO(T) solved the problem. I tried the Accurascale coach with big D-ring couplings but found these restricted movement on second radius points so I put it back to its original NMRA small couplings and find it runs perfectly with its NMRA coupling connected direct to Hornby D-ring fitted coaches. Though the Accurascale model, with its high level of detail and interior lighting puts the older Hornby models to shame.

Mk 2 West coast railway coaches

Excellent build quality and running characteristics.
Particularly like the interior lights and magnetic wand to control them. Am going to add some Model U passengers to them for extra realism + a bit of underside weathering to the frames and bogies
Just need to add a couple of brake coaches to make up a realistic rake coaches

Yet another exceptional coach! The upgraded mark2 packaging gives that bit extra protection, and the inclusion of multiple different coupler options is excellent. Livery well applied as always, and the lighting level is spot on.
