Class 31 - 31409

The Accurascale Class 31 captures the look of the class better than any of the competition and this has the potential to be a stunning model. Unfortunately a number of errors have crept into this model. Firstly, all the blue 31s released in the first batch have missing roof handles and holes in the bogies. The handles would be quite easy to add for an experienced modeller, but it would be a little more challenging to sort the holes in the bogies. Secondly and more significantly, 31409 also appears to have used the body designed for 31402 and vice versa, so that the extra roof panel that was a feature of 31409 is missing. The only way to correct this would be to renumber the loco, which isn’t as easy as it sounds, as the position of overhead warning flashes, multiple working symbols and depot codes would also need changing. I think, in this case, the right thing for Accurascale to do would be to have the loco bodies for 31402 and 31409 remade.

What a cracking loco. Looks great, the detail is another triumph for Accurascale. Splendid paint for a loco to work alongside those racehorses from Finsbury Park.

The accurascale class 31 dcc sound is fantastic it looks like a 31 and sounds like a 31 very pleased with the level of detail and runs super smoothly.

I've been running 31409 for over a week. First thing you notice before it's even on the track is the detail. A great looking locomotive. It had a few hours running by itself then with a rake of 10 tank wagons on second and third radius curves. No running problems at all. It has a good turn of speed when the controller is turned up but what impressed me the most was how smooth it runs at the lowest possible speed-better than any other locomotive I have. Well worth the money and highly recommended.

Another great representation by Accurascale, this time of the venerable Class 31. They’ve captured the shape well with impressive detailing as ever. Nice colour rendition too especially with 31409’s white stripe.

The model itself is stunning , one of the best I've got and runs very well straight from the box .
One small piece of detailing is missing but one email to the support team has me on the list for replacement part when the spares arrive soon .
Can definitely recommend both the model AND Accurascale.

Fast delivery in very secure packaging, the detail and look of the loco is fantastic as are the sound features, also has a 'stay alive' fitted, another great model by Accurascale.

On seeing the decorated samples of the class 31 and having purchased three Accurascale locomotives in the past, I had no hesitation in pre ordering this upcoming locomotive. I decided to go for the sound fitted variant of 31409 and I'm so pleased I did. The locomotive arrived very well packaged in a sturdy cardboard box with cardboard padding...great with recycling in mind. The usual Accurascale packaging followed along with plenty of information in the accompanying booklet and component sheet. On releasing the model from the ice cube packaging, I found myself holding a miniature masterpiece. The model looks absolutely spot on and faithfully represents the prototype from every angle. From the box, the locomotive ran extremely smoothly and responded nicely to inputs from the controller. On pressing F1, the locomotive engine sound package erupted into life and the unmistakable sound of a class 31 was reproduced and at a very pleasing volume. The sounds responded in complete harmony with the performance of the locomotive and notable functions such as heavy train, light engine and drive hold are vary useful to give a realistic driving experience. Traction performance is great and it had no issues hauling 10 Mk1 carriages. I have since weathered the locomotive which takes a fantastic model to the next level. I cannot finish this review without mentioning the lighting features such as left/right hand switchable tail lamps, illuminated drivers desk, cab lighting and marker lamps all pre set to a realistic level.

In summary, a great all round model with bag fulls of features and a punchy sound package. If you're considering making a purchase, my advice is simple, you won't regret it. Well done Accurascale on a next level model, an easy 5 stars.

Perfect loco from the moment it arrived instant out of the box perfection.... Unlike the Bachmann examples that also recently arrived.
