The wait was worth it!

The detail on this loco is amazing! I was very impressed by the way this item was packaged too. I thought that Accurascale had sent the wrong item. I’m still getting to grips with the sound functions but most of it seems to be working great.

I have read reviews about how good it was and how heavy and I totally agree. Model was well packed and arrived in good order. One set of steps were hanging by a thread and one other part was sitting in the in the box. Which seems about the norm. The quality is on par with my Rapido Canadian locomotives, although is heavier. Well worth the wait and the price.

Accurascale 55017 Durham Light Infantry

I'm very pleased with my new Accurascale Deltic, 55017 The Durham Light Infantry, in my opinion the most accurate model of the loco ever. The detail is amazing, it weighs a ton and it performs faultlessly. Even the packaging is superb, although the instructions could be better.
Some of the detail can be damaged when handling if you are not careful. I've lost a bogie chain and a nose ladder so far, and some of the blue paint has come off the roof fan grille revealing yellow plastic underneath. I'd love to fit the buffer beam pipes and hoses, but couldn't remove the coupling cam as instructed for fear of accidental damage to the bogie. I've left the headcodes as delivered as changing them involves removing the body and bogie chains which I fear I'd never be able to refit. Top speed is a scale 200mph using my gaugemaster controller but this isn't a problem as obviously I don't need to go that fast! All in all, its a brilliant model, I'm over the moon with it and I congratulate Accurascale for thier hard work.

I could not be more impressed with this locomotive. I chose the DC version as I generally prefer models without sound.
The detail is superb and it runs like a champion. I have quite a few engines from a variety of manufacturers and this is easily my impressive locomotive.
The engine arrived to me living in the USA well packaged and fully intact. No damage at all. Add to that it only took 3 days from when it shipped from Europe to when I revived it. Amazing.
I highly recommend this engine to anybody and will order a second Deltic when Accurascale order a second batch.

Deltic Review

A great rendition of the Deltic with superb detail. The locomotive runs smoothly and pulls well. However my main gripe is with the fragility of a lot of the detailing. I initially had several derailments which were track related but no problem for my other locos. One derailment left me with three small parts lying on the track and one bogie chain hanging loose. My attempts to reinstate this parts led to another item breaking free as well as the loose chain completely coming off. Just a little frustrating! Otherwise a great model.

55017 DLI review

Finally a Deltic that captures the sheer bulk of the prototype. Finely engineered detailing with the bonus of making the buffer beam removable to fit all the pipework. Running this sound fitted loco just brings a huge smile to my face, taking me back to my first trainspotting day on Newcastle Central station in 1970. Superbly smooth running on different DCC systems ( Lenz and z21 ) with great haulage capacity. Minor niggles with some details coming loose that were easily fixed. Right up there with the best of my US outline models from Rapido , Scaletrains and Athearn Genesis 2.

I'm going to buy more

I'm very very pleased with the detail and solidness of these Deltics.
(Although I think they are a tad bit too detailed with very delicate parts - eg hand brake chains. I also think that some of the gluing perhaps should not have been on top of painted parts (brake pipes and steps etc) where the glue is strong but the paint has not adhered to the base plastic as well. Still, 10 out of 10 from me though. :)

Good in all respects and runs well.

An otherwise excellent model let down by loose small parts detached and loose in the box. Difficult to identify and relocate.
